So You Want to Use QuickLock

The QuickLock Mechanical Pipe Point Repair system is a useful tool in the trenchless pipe rehabilitation wheelhouse. However, it is just that – a tool – and is not applicable for every pipe repair job. Please review each of the steps and complete the checklist on this page before you move forward with using QuickLock Point Repair.

Determine Suitability

When thinking about using Quick Lock for a repair project, the first step is to study the information we share about QuickLock on the QuickLock product page and learn which applications and functions are suitable for QuickLock. Applications which are not suitable for QuickLock include: fixing collapsing pipes, any repair in pipes with inner pressure greater than 220 psi, extreme fragmentation or extensive cracks in clay pipes, and extremely long longitudinal cracks.

As part of determining suitability prior to planning the installation, it is important to study the QuickLock Data Sheet – and verify that your pipe diameter is within the minimum and maximum range for the sleeve size. Pay attention to the “sealing length” value too – if the damaged pipe section is longer than the sealing length, then a serial QuickLock installation is required.

Contractor or Self Installation

The second step is to determine if it would be best to use an existing installation contractor or perform the installation yourself. If your project requires fast turnaround time, consider using one of our Certified Quick Lock installation contractors. The contractor will handle all aspects of the installation and purchase, so this would be the last step for your checklist.

If you plan on using your own crew of operators install the QuickLock sleeve, continue through the checklist on this web page. Site support/training is required for first time installations.

Watch Our Installation Video

As a third step we highly recommend that you review the video below. We have put together this video outlining the basic installation principle – this is not meant to replace reviewing the manual, and shall not be considered a substitute for training. Do not forget to review and read the manual thoroughly.

Ordering

The next step is to decide if you will buy a QuickLock installation system or if you will rent a QuickLock packer from Rausch USA as you order QuickLock sleeves.

If using a camera/crawler, you will need a custom mounting bracket purchased from Rausch USA to connect the QuickLock packer:

  • Rausch L 135 Bracket
  • Cues Style Bracket
  • Aries Style Bracket
  • RST Style Bracket

Training

The sixth step involves training. Rausch USA offers QuickLock Installation Training. For first time orders and installers, we offer on-site supervised training and installation of a single QuickLock sleeve for up to 1/2 day in a pre-approved damaged pipe. Extended on-site training is available for new customers, as well as new QuickLock operator training.

If you have experience in the pipe rehabilitation industry, you might be eligible to opt-out of training. Contact us to request an approval form.

Certified Installers

The final step is to decide if you want to become a Certified Installer. Both municipalities and contractors are eligible to become a Certified Installer. The requirements for becoming a certified installer are detailed on our contract, but a few of the benefits of working with Rausch USA include:

  • Annual installation training at Rausch USA HQ
  • Eligible for bulk discount program
  • Purchase from Rausch USA – largest US inventory
  • Regional job recommendations by Rausch USA
